Juliane Pezold was born in 1974 in Vienna. Her pictures animate hidden stories: from a forlorn piece of machinery amidst industrial surroundings to a sheep in a Scottish pasture, she concentrates on the processes within to discover a new means of illustration.
Juliane completed her formal studies in photography at the Studio Marangoni in Florence in 1994. Her travels through Africa inspired her interest in the unusual, and she took African Studies and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna, receiving her degree in Paris from the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in 2000. Since then, she has developed a passion for revealing stories of a different kind, and has documented processes of industrial production from source to finished product. She has also worked as a photo-journalist and broadcaster documenting foreign social and political issues. Whilst developing her photographic talents, Juliane coordinated contemporary art projects/exhibitions at the Gallerie Vu in Paris, and in New York´s PS1 Contemporary Art Center. Juliane is now based in Vienna, where she advances her career as a freelance photographer. For further details please contact her via this website. |
